How can you add a bright glow effect to a scene? The lighting effect should look like light emancipating from inside a box and shine out when the box is opened, and will brighten the face of the actor with a colored glow. Kind of like the briefcase scene in Pulp Fiction" The scene is going to be shoot outside..
Have to tell you guys that we are newbies when it comes to After Effects:(

Hope you can help us or show us where we can get some help:)

Yeah, but fakey light rays don't solve your BIG problem: getting light to fall realistically on the face. For that, the easiest way to do it is to put a nice, bright light in the box, shining on the subject's face. If you do that, you can really sell the shot. A word of advice--do tests to get this practical effect right before you do it for real.

Then you'll KNOW you can do it and you'll be a LOT happier with the result. This effects stuff can get tricky, and you can't always rely on software to save your bacon.

I agree with Dave. Practical effects are the way to go here. You can always enhance it after with some flares or rays, but it can be pretty difficult to create realistic lighting in post that interacts with the scene properly in shots like this.
