Can I make a desk lamp move on its own? Stop motion + frame blending?

Hi! I want to make a desk lamp look like it's moving on its own (flexing to "look" into the camera).
I thought about something like a stop motion animation with pixel movement frame blending to smooth it out ...

But that didn't work at all. Is there anything else I could try other than attaching sticks to the lamp and puppeteering? :)

I don't think there's any particularly easy way to do this. If you don't want to get into 3D animation, perhaps shooting the turning lamp head on green screen and creating parts for the lamp leg that you can animate by cutting them out of a still image. Compose on your desired background that doesn't have the lamp, add shadows and lighting, reflections.

Good stop motion animation is a slow, painstaking process. There are no shortcuts. If you think there are, you're fooling yourself.
