Moving Logo Removal
on Jun 11, 2016 at 5:51:13 pm

Hi,

I'm working on a VFX shot and would appreciate some advice -
Does anyone have a suggestion how to remove the red logo on the side of this moving car?
I managed to erase it in the beginning by using the clone stamp, but I can't do it for the entire shot without some noticeable inconsistencies between frames.
I managed to track the logo in Mocha pretty well, but there's no part of the car that I can place over it with a mask that would look consistent.

Any ideas would be appreciated,
Thank you!

Track, schmack. That's not tough. Just animate a mask and cover it up with some black. You can fake aot of it.

Make a clean plate, track it over and blend it in.

If you have MochaPro, they have remove module.
In remove module, use/create multiple clean plates every x frame, edit the plates in PS.
Yes, you can do this manually in AE/PS, but it's easier in MochaPro IMO, faster workflow (at least for me).

Browse the Imagineer System site for clean plates tutorial.
Here's the low-res result.

Note :
I will remove the result if you didn't want your sample footage being publish in this forum by someone else (me).
Just tell me, and i will remove immediately.

your video is not full scene so its not good but removal is ok.

you are missing 1 big trick on mocha to do tracking then remove.

@ Hanna :

Edit: (i mistakenly read your reply, here's the edit response)

The workflow can be applied easily full scene, no need to track unnecessary/unaffected frame.
Why bother to track the whole scene?

I've no idea with you saying "1 big trick on mocha to do tracking then remove".
I use Mocha, of course i do track and remove.

you se mocha removal can be usless when it comes to scene that has sun light affecting the object it can make the mask stand out try it.
and to fix that there is a way around it with vfx.

the tracking the whole scene this is how to do it

track the car , when it comes to near when the object is almost out of screen , add another spliner in front of the car so the current spliner does not move out of place.

this is the best way to do it am sure you dont know this otherwise u would have said it.
