Does Hitting Caps-Lock Actually Speed Up Renders?

Hi all,

Title says it all. Does turning off the live preview even make a difference? I have tested it, but I notice no difference. It seems the preview would be handled by the gpu. When I am rendering, the computer is mainly using the processor. So turning on the preview would make a negligible difference since it is putting that load on the gpu?

Pre-Thanks!!

I think that it might have long ago, but we've evolved past that.

FYI -- the GPU does virtually nothing in AE; it's pretty much all CPU.

Hitting the caps lock key prevents AE from re-drawing the comp window & leaves it black. It still saves a bit of time -- a tiny-weenie bit, but it does save time.
