Ubisoft Logo animation - tipps?

Hey Guys,

recently I found an intro animation from ubisoft's Far Cry 4:

I want to recreate this sand blowing effect and reveal a logo behind the "sandstorm". Only difference is, that the colored part is alpha. So there is nothing. I just want to make the storm revealing the logo or text.

Here is the closest rsult I get to:

How I make it to look like real sand like in the example?

Currently I use Trapcode Form. The particles (100/sec) are set to cloudlet (size=200; feather=100). The emitter is a layer with a linear wipe on it.

Use significantly smaller particles and add some turbulence.

Although, I wouldn't use Form for this at all. A particle effect like Particular would be better. If you don't have that, CC Particle World, Foam, or any of the others that come with AE should be fine. CC Vector Blur and Turbulent Displace will help all of these do better.

Heck, you could probably do this with Fractal Noise and some wipes with Roughen Edges if you tweaked and animated the properties correctly.

Is there any way you could help by giving some tutorials for only this type of effect??

There are many logo to smoke or text to smoke tutorials out there that you can follow. That little shockwave at the end could be done by using Shockwave from Video Copilot (or from the Video Copilot tutorial on how to make one without buying the package).
