I'm trying to use a displacement map to create a jiggly line effect on a shape layer or an Ai file. I followed a couple of tutorials about it, but when I reference the displacement map with the shape layer I want to affect, there isn't any change.
Or rather, the only change that happens is the shape layer is displaced 5 pixels over, per the Max Horiz & Max Vert displacements, instead of those values affecting the degree of jiggle.
Does this method work for shape layers and imported Ai files?

Can't see the video, nor all of the relevant layer information in the comp. But there's a common reason for the displacement map not to work: when you precomped, you didn't select "move all attributes" for the precomp. The fractal noise may still be applied to the precomp, which throws off AE's rendering order.

I had moved all attributes, but I did indeed mess up my pre-comping and where the displacement map was applied. Instead of applying the displacement map within the displacement layer precomp, I had applied it on top of the precomp.
