100's of falling pins like Google's pin map

Hi Folks

I'm getting ready to begin a project where I'll be applying the same 'falling with single bounce' to 100+ objects that are all offset in their start time as well as XY location.

My initial strategy is to create an animated NULL using expressions then applying it to all 100+ objects then adjusting each NULL's XY location as well as start time.

Is this how you might handle such a project or is there a more efficient way of looking at all this?

Thanks for your time and feedback!

Kellie

Hi Kellie,

Try use the repeater tool, you can build objects and repeat them, then tell it to animate how you want. You can also use a repeater on a repeater too, so you can go really crazy on it. This uses shape layers, but as I mentioned earlier you can build them how you want. Evan Abrams did a great tutorial on this:

Hope that helps!

Hey Derek

Thanks a bunch for this tip!

Will go watch the video and create a bazillion dropping pins.

No problem, you should send me the final clip, I'd love to see how it turned out.
