2D character animation with 3D features, how to approach visual shortening of the limbs

I´m animating 2D dancing characters, and I´ve run into the following challenge:
As the character spins with the arms wide spread the arms will visually shorten when the character is rotated 90 degrees.
I´ve set up the characters & limbs in illustrater and used DuiK to IK the motion of the limbs. As I´m quite new to AE I´m not really sure how to approach this. (currently the length of the upperarm and forearm stay the same, which makes for weird bends & twists in the arms when the character rotates)
