Hi!
Can somebody please tell me if it is normal for my video in After Effects to take 6 hours to render?

I have 16 layers of HD video (so 16 videos all playing at the same time in the one comp) that i'm rendering as quicktime Apple pro res 422. The clip is 3 minutes long. Is 6 hours a normal render time for something with this much information?

(I'm on a very fast computer)

Thanks!
Harriet.

That is not an unusual render time for some things. Things like effects and 3D can make a composition take several minutes just to render a single frame. This is normal for compositing and visual effects.

That said, see this page for resources about making After Effects work faster: http://adobe.ly/eV2zE7

Thanks Todd! I think it's normal, but am working to a deadline so wanted to make sure... I will definitely check out that link.
Cheers!
Harriet.
