Hey guys, I'm fairly new here, so if there is a certain topic board or forum, or if there is another one similar question like mine, please link me to it, thanx

I'm working on a short and there is one effect I'd like to add to it.

I know it's animation but I'd like to add it to live action footage

at the 00:21 second mark, you will see it. The light in the room completely changes and it's absorbed by the orb the guy is holding. The orb part isn't really the problem but the lighting effect is what's causing me trouble, I have no clue how to achieve this, could anyone help me out please? I'd really appreciate it.

For a very simple version, you could animate a mask on an adjustment layer and have a color correction effect on the adjustment layer to darken the area of the footage defined by the mask.
