enlarge/zooming a part of image behind moving shape

Hi Guys,

I want to zoom in or enlarge only that small portion of an image which keep falling behind a transparent moving rectangle or any other shape. Its very common effects that we see in news stories. Can someone please help me revealing this technique.

Thanks
Andy

My approach to it would be to create a second copy of the image behind the first, but enlarged, by whatever amount you want it to appear in the box. Then create a mask on the top, smaller image, and move it around. I haven't tried it, but I think it would work. You might need to do some parenting with position on the back image, since it would be off the screen in some places.

I don't believe so...I think this is one of those custom jobs you have to build yourself. But someone else may know different...

yup, thanks for all your help, Joe

There's one more thing i wanna ask you Joe. I've been using after effects since last 3 years but without any professional training & i couldn't operate its CAMERA the way i want even till now. I've tried many tutorials but none of them have made me perfect. Is there any complete tutorial that you may suggest. I really need to get my hand on this now.

Andy -

There a loads of great tutorials on tv.adobe.com, and here's an advanced camera tutorial on Video Copilot - there are probably more there if you poke around:

There are also some very good scripts available which improve the control you have with your cameras in AE.
