Blinking animation help?
on Feb 24, 2013 at 9:52:19 pm

I haven't been using After Effects for very long. I would say I'm on the basic level. I wanted to get something along the lines of blinking animation as seen at 45sec in this video, as example; http://www (dot)youtube(dot) com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=fysNTElCYUU

How could I go about this? To give you an impression of my skill level this is what I recently tried. I thought of just making different layers for the eyelids; open, mid, closed; and giving them their respective key frames would work but it didn't. Came out with noticeable pauses now matter what I did. So unlike the smooth motion of that video.

Help? Advice?

If you go through it frame by frame, it looks to me as if the black eye shape with lashes was done in Illustrator, and the actual vectors are being animated, then an animated mask is applied to crop the inner eye. I don't do much of this type of animation, so maybe someone who knows more than I do will weigh in...
