Hello there, this is my first post and I would like to cheer you all !!

I've got an Idea on heavy rotation on my mind !!! I would like an expert of video broad cast to tell me how the hell is done this graphic effect ( and in general all of the graphics impressions over playgrounds... soccer, athletics ecc ecc...)

- Obviously the graphics is still while the camera is mooving.
- Also in some cases ( long jump for example) the graphics is somewhere between the background and the jumper ( like a cromakey..just make an example)

Which technology is used to do this kind of effects ??

I thank you all of you for the support !

rt Software is one of the players, but there are a number of companies who have the technology. What it requires, to a certain degree, is camera data which includes the lens settings (field of view, etc.), the angle of view that the camera is position in, and the layout of the field. A lot of this can be gotten via sensors mounted on the cameras.

Then you have to have a system that's robust enough to overlay these graphics in real time (a bank of powerfull desktop multicore computers can do that), and the setup time to get the facility mapped to the system, plus operators who know what they're doing. Here's some of rt Software's soccer stuff - pretty impressive, and expensive:

They also do virtual sets, live election graphics, but they require highly skilled setup people and operators.

It's the same technology they use in the NFL to put graphics on the field. It cost them around $60,000 a game to operate and run the camera that has the software integrated inside of it.
