I recently made a video involving animating some flipping playing cards. The solution I came up with was to use two images: one for the front of the card and one for the back, spin them both on the same 3D axis while altering the opacity when the images are on edge to give the illusion that the rotating "card" is a single element.
The effect works well but takes a little more time then I like to spend especially since I animate a lot of cards doing videos for a game company.
I was wondering if anyone had a solution that involves building the card by putting the two images back to back in one comp, nesting it, and then rotating the card comp in 3D space, or something similar. Would be much faster to animate one element instead of trying to match two. Whatever solution allows me to make a single element I can manipulate in 3D would be much appreciated.
