I would love to be able to play with this technique. Can you suggest a starting point?

If not, I'm putting this on "my tutorial wish list." It's beautiful.

Thanks,

mandy

The technique isn't complicated and has been discussed in tutorials and posts here.

- Go to a frame to be frozen
- Export in photoshop/graphics editor
- Remove the background, leaving only the subject
- Add that as a new layer to the composition
- Repeat

For added effect, which is done here, use something like the AE puppet tool to warp portions of the frozen layers.

There are tutorials on how to do this depending on what app you are using.

PS. Creating something like the sample you provided would be much easier to achieve if you shoot the subject on a green screen.

Best of luck.

Hi there,

You can achieve an effect similar to this by cleverly using multiple instances of the Time Blend FX effect. this effect is brilliant and well under-used. It allows you to copy and paste frames within a layer. With some clever compositing I think it could be done using this technique. I'll try to see if I can find time within the next month or so to create a tutorial for it.

cheers,

Angie
