Hi all

I have been creating an underwater aquarium scene. I was wondering if anyone knew where I can catch a quick tutorial on a rippling caustic effect on the objects and the bottom (coral etc)?

thanks

There\'s a tutorial here on the COW about the caustics effect that covers what you\'re looking for. http://library.creativecow.net/articles/tierney_jim/caustics.php

Yes I have seen this before but I CAM POV is side on and underwater already. So its more like light rippling over coral underwater.

thanks though

What are you animating this in? Because what I think of first is to just grab a render of the caustic pattern in photoshop, treat it to have an alpha channel, and use it as an animated looping gel or a gobo and project it onto the scenery in a 3d cgi environment. Add volumetric fog effects to thicken up the water a little.
