I am very new to ae and would like to know if there is a relatively simple/quick way to achieve an effect similar to the one on this website...

http://www.hybridmoment.com

At this point I understand the fundamentals of key-framing and could probably do this by importing multiple images and tweaking their transform parameters. However I feel this method would not allow me to change the speed/rate at which the objects generate and expand very easily. I don't really know how to express what I want; I just want to achieve this effect...

Thnx

Make a shape in AE and scale it up from zero until it fills the screen. Then copy it and offset it so it starts scaling over the previous shape. You can control the speed by moving the scale keyframes closer.

Phew! Should have an "epilepsy-inducing" warning on that link.

You could do it with a basic particle effect too.
And a shape layer with a repeater.
There are several ways. :)
