So, suppose you have an AE project and it is in Projects/AE/ and it references footage (music) that is in Projects/Music/

Then suppose you back up the Projects folder by copying it to a backup hard drive. What music does the backed up project reference? The original? Or the copied?

if you use the the File > Collect Files command, a new .aep will reference the copied files. If you need it to reference the copied file and it isn't just right click the audio file in the project window and select replace footage.
