Hi everyone,

Recently I've been following some Adobe After Effects tutorials on creating lightsabers in the program. So far it has been going well - until the end. You see, I'm using the Dynamic Link feature of Premiere Pro in order to add visual effects to edited clips from my film in After Effects. However, this means that when I overlay my lightsaber effect onto the SOURCE clip, the visuals do not match. This is because I have been editing with the trimmed premiere pro clip and thus the lightsaber is in the wrong place when placed onto the source clip rather than the edited clip.

I'm really sorry if I'm being unclear, this is all very new to me. Any help would be appreciated :) I would like to know if there is a way to complete the lightsaber effect without having to use it on a raw original clip rather than an already-edited clip.

Thanks for your time!

try render the lightsabre with as an avi and add it to premiere pro, or try change the opacity setting of the lightsabre effect in the "opacity" panel.

It sounds like you need to go through the basics of how to use AE. Jumping right into making lightsabers is just going to confuse you if you don't know how to render out your final product.

I'd recommend starting here:

- The Great Szalam
(The 'Great' stands for 'Not So Great, in fact, Extremely Humble')
