Hey all, I have a composition where I have a main timeline of 20 seconds which I am breaking out into smaller compositions, and utilizing transitions between the nested comps.

My question is simply how I can quickly measure time from an IN to an OUT point on the MAIN timeline so that I can make exact comps for the smaller ones.

Any ideas?

Wah wah....

tough to get super accurate frame counts with 23.976 fps, but I did it!!!

Well, 23.976 is close enough to 24 to make the difference almost indistinguishable over the span of 20 seconds.

You could use B and N to set up the work area in your main comp that you need for the duration of your subcomps. Then right click in the work area and select "Trim Comp to Work Area". Press Cntl+K to find the duration, hit cancel and Cntl+Z to restore your Main Comp back to it's original duration. More button pushing, but less math.

I know this is a slightly old thread, but FYI, when you click on the work area bar, in the info panel there is a display that tells you the current duration and the start and end timecode of the work area.
