Hi there!

I'm struggling to get a flare effect working as I'd like...

I am using VideoCopilot's Optical Flares to get the effect. In the footage, there are a few spotlights to which I'd like to apply different kinds of flares. I have a Luma of my original footage, a pure black and pure white version of it.

Say I want to apply a flare with a streak to the spotlight on the right. I go to the luma layer, duplicate it, rename it to something as "right spotlight" and mask it so that only the right spotlight is shown. Then, within the flare layer's effect controls I have set the Positioning mode to Luminance, the source layer is "right spotlight" and... it affects the whole footage. The same streak appears on every spotlight in the original footage.

I am no expert with After Effects, this is actually the first time I use it and I have no idea about how to get this working. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you!
