Fastest 1080p Render Codecs for YouTube/Vimeo Quality Video
on Feb 20, 2014 at 5:18:18 pm

Hello,

What would be the fastest codecs to render 1080p videos? I don't need extremely good quality, a regular 1080p video from YouTube or Vimeo would be ok.

I have access to windows and mac, AE cs5 and cs6.

I'm guessing the speed has more to do with the codecs than the format. There's just too many of them to download so I was wondering if someone has a recommendation.

Please let me know if I'm mistaken.

Thanks in advance.

Probably the fastest way to render videos is to render them uncompressed, but therefor you will get a size problem and your upload time increases.
In most cases i prefer using the h.264 codec. The quality is good, the size is manageable and the render speed is ok.

Thank you David.

I've noticed on Windows, that rendering to an uncompressed AVI seems to be faster than any other format.

On a Mac, when choosing Quicktime, the HDV codec seems to be way faster than a regular uncompressed MOV (got that codec when installing FCP).

I was wondering if someone knows about a similar fast codec for Windows, or a faster one for Mac.
