Hi everyone,

I am new to After Effects and I am looking for an easy way to remove a background from a still image in after effects. I am familiar with Photoshop and it seems to me that there should be an easy way to remove the background of an image in AE just like there is in Photoshop (i.e. magic wand tool).I found some complex ways on youtube but they don't seem to work on the image I am using which just has a plain white background

Or can I remove the background in Photoshop and save it a certain way so that it shows up transparent in AE?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Here is an overview of various approaches to compositing in After Effects:

... but, really, you need to start here and go through the basics first:

yeah it's very easy (drag'n'drop) to import .psd files from PS into AE. You will be asked what layer You want to import (with transparency and even styles).

Also You can try to apply keying effects onto your layer directly inside AE. I think Keying/Color range effect would similar to magic wand.
