So this might be a pretty basic question, but I'm having a hard time getting the effect I want to work.

I'm trying to a number of portraits to morph into each other. I drew them in photoshop on a tablet and want to keep that like, rough look, which is why I avoided initially making a vector image in illustrator. The only way I know to morph in AE is by copying and pasting mask paths so I tried a bunch of ways to make the layers from photoshop into vectors in illustrator that would be recognized as a single mask in AE. making them into work paths in photoshop and going to straight to AE creates a ton of individual mask paths which can't be combined and I don't want to individually keyframe them. going into illustrator and doing image trace has the same effect. is there a better way to do the morph effect? am i missing something basic in the way vectors work in AE?!

You might want to check out the Reshape effect here
