Rendering in AE
on May 13, 2013 at 10:03:59 am

Hello,

We are planning to build a new system for extreme fast rendering because we do this a lot. Still there are some questions about speeding up rendering in AE.

We now us a computer with 2x Xeon(quadcore)3.16 GHZ and 32GB memory using CS5 and Windows Vista. In AE in the preferences we filled in to use 30GB for AE and 2GB for the rest.

If we start rendering AE it's using 5% of the system memory.
Why doesn't it use let's say use 80% and render faster?

We are planning to build a computer with 128GB internal memory but if i look at this i don't think it makes any difference.

Can somebody please explane or advice me? Where do we go wrong?

Thank you all!

Leon..

did you turn on multi-processing and adjust the memory per core settings? Even if you do, I believe the limit is 3GB, so that you should get up to 24GB of RAM used....if AE needs that much. This is assuming you are using Vista 64bit.

128 GB seems way overkill, to really utilize 128GB, you would need 4x(8 core)= 32 cores x 3GB RAM = 96GB of RAM being used, but that's just my .02 cents.

How are you determining that?
