Ramping high Frame rates back to real time using phantom footage
on Apr 8, 2013 at 2:18:49 pm

Hi guys.
I am shooting a job where there will be alot of ramping required.
So for arguments sake - we shoot a shot at 1000fps and I want to ramp it back to 25fps(realtime) in post.
From what I hear it looks terrible as I have to loose frames and add motionblur.

What is the best way to achieve this ramping technique without it being vfx intensive? or is that the only way?
Also don't want to have to do it in-camera - its to much hit and miss

I'd recommend shooting some tests. You shouldn't see much of an issue going from 1000fps to 25fps. Sure you're losing frames but you wouldn't have had those frames to begin with if you shot at 25fps. Doing this with the built-in Timewarp or Re:vision FX's Twixtor should work.
