Expand one side of shape

Hi,

I have a rectangle with masks that I want to expand only the left side of the rectangle and keep the masks as they are, but when I try to expand only the shape, the whole thing gets scaled horizontally including the masks. For some reason, I can't find a single description on how to do this.

The Mask Shape is automatically parented to the properties of the layer on which it is applied.

So if you have a Rectangle, first Precomp it and then apply mask to it. This way you can manipulate the shape later on without altering the mask shape.

Make sure you choose move all attributes in the new composition.

Another way is to use a White Solid as a Matte and then use it as Alpha Matte.

Using this method will give you complete and separate control over both the layers.
