Text tool location reset in After Effect
on Nov 6, 2014 at 2:33:25 pm

Hi,

I'm fairly new in After Effects. When I click on the text tool and click on the state, the location of where the text start is much different from where I clicked on the stage. How do I change that?

Thanks!

Jay

It sounds as if the settings in the Character pane are misadjusted. AE will retain the last Character settings used for the next text layer. If you just type in a short bit of random test, then highlight all of it, you can re-adjust the settings for use in a new text layer. Then delete the older text layer: it has served its purpose.

A common offender: the subscript/superscript setting.

I take that back. Forgot to change the "paragraph" setting and only looked at the character setting.

Your suggestion was very helpful.

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply!

I gave it a shot, not luck. The anchor point keeps showing up to the far bottom right which makes the text appear to the far top left. I may have not been following your steps properly.

Here is what I did.
1) Create new text
2) Highlight adjust character settings (not much to adjust)
3) Fix the anchor point and align it to the middle
4) create new text layer to see if it worked (no luck).

Thanks again,

Jay
