Simple background effect?: kaleidescope-esque, but not...

Please look at this video, specifically starting at 1:31:

The simple background effect here was given to me by my client, pre-rendered. I could replicate it, rather laboriously, but I'm pretty sure this is a very simple effect, probably just ONE effect, and wondered what it might be.

Anybody know?

Thanks!

Try CC Kaleida

CC Kaleida --- nope, not seeing it. (but, many settings so who knows?)

What is characteristic about the particular effect I'm referencing is the recognizability of the image: CC Kaleida is too much a kaleidoscope in that most settings severely erode any recognizability of the source image, although the look is very cool, it's mostly abstract.

Thanks for the response!: got anything else???

Sorry, I posted before I had time to experiment, after a few minutes I realized it's not CC Kaleida.

I did a little experiment with some 4 shapes(precomped) and CC Repetile that comes close, but I cant seem to get how the edges seem to blend together a bit. I feel like I should know this one, but right now the answer is eluding me.

Thanks for the effort: I think they did it by precomping the rotating image w/sufficient border so that the bckg never shows, then using CC Repetile. It's certainly doable that way.
