Hello,

If we download YouTube videos in .mp4 format from a site like keepvid.com:

After Effects is not going to play nicely with the format and sooner or later you'll run into this problem:

"ram preview needs 2 or more frames to playback"

Any suggestions for what I can do with the video files before importing them? I realise I could convert them all to an uncompressed format using adobe media encoder, but this would take a long time and a lot of space.

Is there any simple way around this I might be overlooking?

Thanks

Sure: get AE CS5 or 5.5; either gan deal with mp4's. Earlier versions can't.

Can't do that? Start transcoding, budget additional time and get more storage!
