Best render settings for YouTube/Vimeo.

I was wondering what some of you would suggest be the best render settings for AE comps that I will post to YouTube or Vimeo. I would just render as QuickTime 1080 24p but the file sizes are usually large and lately rendering to Quicktime has resulted in unfinshed renders with errors. I have a slow Internet connection and I need file sizes below 500mb to keep the upload times bearable and I want to retain as much definition as possible. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Stick to 1280x720, H.264, 29.97 (NTSC) or 25 (PAL) frames/sec. Adobe Media Encoder can do it.

Of course, that's just off the top of my head. I haven't gone to the Vimeo or YouTube pages and actually looked at their preferred delivery specifications....

...which is something you could do.
