Layer styles lost when exporting to SWF

Hi sorry if this has been posted before but i'm tearing my hair out.

Basically i'm importing a PSD file with a few layers into AE CS4, each layer has layer styles such as an overlay or stroke it all looks fine after animation is added until i export it to SWF and the layer styles from the photoshop file have

Very little is preserved when you export as SWF if you have Ignore chosen for Unsupported Features. You need to set Unsupported Features to Rasterize for these features to come through on output.

In general, though, why would you be exporting bitmap/raster graphics (like layer styles) in a SWF file? Why not created a video file and have the linked or embedded in your SWF file? Direct SWF output is only appropriate for basic vector graphics---which layer styles are not.
