After Effects - How do I make a 3d animated plane?

I'm trying to recreate something similar to what occurs on at the 3sec mark in this video:

I want to make a similar shape appear in 3d space with text on it. Can someone help or point me in the right direction of a good tutorial? Thanks!

That plane doesn't look like real 3D to me -- rather it looks like a masked solid that's been animated to "wipe" into the shot. Solids and masks, keyframe the position a bit to the right/left and you should be good!

Make the angled plane and spin it 90 degrees. Make the front plane. To get them to touch move each planes axis point (with the pan behind tool) to the touching edge.
Then, under the layer property 'transform', uncheck the paper clip box on 'scale'. Keyframe the X value from 0 to whatever and time the outer plane to start just as the side plane finishes.

Hope that helps!
