I am wanting to do a little web series involving a character that would need facial distortion for every shot. Andrew Kramer's tutorial for the "Demon Face" or whatever was a great technique that used After Effects' built in Stabilizer.

I have CS5.5 which always goes to their new "Warp Stabilizer" to stabilize the footage and it doesn't ever seem to create the tracking data or choose a point in which to stabilize, which was the way it's done in that tutorial.

So I was wondering, is there an easier way to do this? Would you suggest Mocha? Can the facial distortion be done with just normal Tracking inside of After Effects?

Would getting rid of the Warp Stabilizer effect allow me to use the traditional Stabilizer in After Effects CS5.5?

This page [link] talks about how to use the legacy stabilizer in CS5.5.
