After Effects Newbie - Layer issue!
on Aug 2, 2011 at 1:58:52 pm

Hi,

Just started using After Effects today. I've created a clock where the hands spin round but for half the clock the hour hand disappears. The face, and both hands are on separate layers and I can see the minute hand at all times. if I hide the clock face I can see the hour hand at all times. So I figure there must be something on the clock face layer that obscures the hour hand, but I can't work out what or how to get rid of this.

Any ideas?

Much appreciated! :-)

Sounds like a 3D layer issue. Try animating the clock in a 2D comp to keep layer order straight, then nest it in another comp and make the nested comp a 3D layer. Happiness ensues.

If any of that procedure sounded like Greek, you really need to go here:
