My org .mov is 720x480 (853x480), when I render it becomes 720x480 (872x480).

Also the rendered file is aprox 1.3 gb where the org file is <200 mb? I'm guessing I'm missing some settings.

Thanks! (I originally posted this in FCP forum by mistake)

It sounds like you're using Quicktime to look at your rendered AE file.
What's the resolution of the render from AE when you look at it in the FCP browser?
What's the codec of your source video, and what codec did you use when you rendered out of AE?

In FCP I checked info of the .mov in the Browser (video I captured, correctly no so sure) it says that it is 720x480 DV/DVCXPRO - NTSC.

When I check the Video Codec (Output Module Settings > QuickTime Options) assuming my FCP settings are correct, there is no match for it.

Am I at least in the right direction here? I've been pushed off the boat before learning to swim...

thanks

If you're working with DV video, I recommend you capture it using the FCP DV NTSC easy setup for log & capture... but that you change the FCP edit timeline's codec from DV to either DVCPro 50 or ProRes 422. When you render in AE, use the codec that corresponds to the one in your edit timeline.

That'll do a LOT to preserve image quality.
