Time Warp makes effect dissapear!
on Mar 6, 2011 at 10:54:29 am

Hi,

I am quite a beginner in AE and struggling with the following problem:

I got a Ps stills layer which I applied a scatterize´╗┐ effect to, and I want to change its speed using time warp - slowmo - fast and slowmo (time remapping doesnt work with stills).

It wouldnt let me, as soon as I apply the´╗┐ time warp effect, the scatterize effect disappears! please help, I have been looking for the answer everywhere.

Precompose the layer, then apply the Scatterize effect in the precomp. Apply Timewarp in the main comp.

Thanks for the reply.
That (nearly) worked, but shortly before the effect comes to an end, it enlarges and distorts for the length of one frame. Any idea?

Actually Time Remapping should work just fine with a still, as long as you animate it in the precomp.

I don't use Time Warp much, precisely because of its tendency to cause distortion and artifacting.

You may not need to use Time Warp. You can keyframe the amount of scattering, which means that you can control its speed.

Thanks, I tried that in the first place, but felt that I didnt get the
control over the time as good as with time warp. It kind of worked to
get the "speed - slowmo - speed" effect though I have to admit that
the way keyframes behaved in time warp didnt make sense to me as eventhough I had the exact same keyframes in each and every layer,(both main comp and pre-comp), the layers responded very differently and besides normally, an interpolation between 2 keyframes happens faster when dragging them closer together, here it was slower.

Again, thanx for the pre-comp advise.
