Hello

is there any way to get after effects to read the overall brightness of an image and spit out some numbers for an expression?

thanks

Lukas

You could use the sampleImage method, as shown here.

It might be somewhat slow if you're sampling from a large area.

Hello Todd,

will have a go at this, though what I'm after is sampling the whole of a 720x576 frame for its average brightness in order to then create volume changes, so it would be a large area.

I was attempting to use openframeworks for doing this sort of thing, but the learning curve is a little steep, so will attempt to slowly chug through with AE

thanks

Lukas
