collapse transformations and motion blur behaviours

Hi..

Just wondering.. the wiggits where I find collapse transformation and blur switches, frame blending etc..what is their behaviors effect on comps above and below.?

If I make a comp and nested comps. Do I have to enable all these switches to make them work on ALL the nests or only the top comp. i.e 8 nests is a lot of setting switches, especially as it slows down renders. If I switch off only the top one will it disable all the rest?

Cheers. Anita

Hi..

This is not what they do... only...if it is switched off on top layers does it affect all comps below... and assume it does not effect ones above on lower comps. i.e. if motion blur on a moving ball 3 nests down can be made by activating only "motion blur" on the top comp. Virtually all comps have alpha areas. As far as I can see... pixels are changing constantly. But could I have a motion blur and then even more blur and even more blur, if 3 nested comps had switches activated.

Cheers Anits

Hi there,

The switches' behaviors can sometimes seem unpredictable. That's because all comp setups are different. there may be cases where you want to apply Motion Blur universally but other times you may not. But actually, the behavior of the switches is easy to fix. It all depends on how you have your preferences set up. With the default "Switches Affect Nested Comps" on, when a switch is activated in the Main comp, it will also be activated in all nested comps. If you don't want this to happen just got to Preferences > General and deselect this option.

Hope this helps!

cheers,

Angie
