I just saved one project on-top of another project and then closed out before I realized it.

Is there any way to get it back?

Thanks,

Fred

How important is getting this file back?

Life and death?
DO NO FURTHER WORK ON YOUR COMPUTER! SHUT IT DOWN AS SOON AS YOU'RE DONE READING THIS! Take the hard drive(s) immediately to a company specializing in data recovery. You're looking at spending a WHOLE lot of money to recover it.

Inconvenient?
You've now learned a hard lesson: always keep more than one copy of your project file. The Save A Copy and Increment And Save commands are good for this.

So, is Adobe ever going to grow up and add an auto save function to their programs? This is very disappointing that a company as widely used as this one has no feature as simple as auto save.

I knew I shouldn't have taken that allergy medicine.

Looks like I'm out of luck.

Thanks,

Fred

S'matter, don't you have autosave turned on?

You'll find AE's Online Help to be very.... well, helpful.

Not in 6.5.

Maybe I have finally found a reason to get those updates I've wanted for 7 years.

Thanks,

Fred

[Fred Matthews] "Maybe I have finally found a reason to get those updates I've wanted for 7 years."

Ooooh, lots of improvements in that time, you bet!

You'll love the improved chroma keying, improved text animation, shapes, cooler effects, and the third-party stuff that comes bundled with AE: Keylight (chroma keying), Freeform (bend 3D layers), Mocha (uncanny motion tracking) and all those Cycore effects. Not to mention RotoBrush, which is a BIG help in rotoscope work.

But you're now 4 versions behind: it'll take a good deal of work to get up to speed.

Don't forget the updated Color Finesse!

Y'know, Michael, I don't know if Color Finesse was even available in the days of AE 6. But you're right on two counts: it's improved, and I totally spaced it out!

...something tells me there's a few other things I left off that list as well. I guess the ol' memory ain't what it used to be.

Is there an autosave vault? Can you simply open up an older version of the project?
