I come from an Apple Motion background, and in Motion's keyframe editor, there's an option to progressively continue the direction of keyframes; for example, I can set a value of 10 at frame one and a value of 20 at frame 2, and tell it to progressively interpolate, and it will put a value of 30 at frame 3 and so on.

Does AE have anything similar (or better)?

Not that I know about. You could probably do it with an expression, but that could get cumbersome.

yep, you can do it with an expression.

with the keyframed property selected in the timeline, choose animation>add expression. then type loopOut("continue",0) in the expression field.
