Using After effects and Maya, I want to know a way I can put makers on myself, and track them, then have a animated character replace me? Would this be easy? Is it possible?

[Mike Garcia] "Would this be easy? Is it possible?"
Using a normal HD camera, desktop/laptop computer and associated software? Sorry, no.
WETA Workshop could create a totally CG Gollum for the Lord of the Rings because they had state-of-the-art-film scanners that could create create super-high-definition files from 70mm film, state-of-the-art workstations and software with capabilities far beyond Maya/AE/laptop/desktop, and talented, experienced and knowledgeable people working on them.
With all that, it took months to do the shots.
I know that was a few years ago, but it's still far beyond your, your camera's, your computer's and your software's capabilities.
