Hi guys,
I got a question:

Is it possible to mask a footage that has got people walking/moving in a room cutting them out using an empty still of the room in the same position?

It's basically the same way how photo boot on mac works.

That could be great so i don't have to draw and animate the path to mask out the people walking.

Thanks
S

Do you mean you have a still of an empty room, and you want to use that as the reference to 'key' out people walking in and out..?

Sounds like a difference keyer to me.. Does AE have one?

Otherwise, it's good old rotoscoping (or Mocha, if you have it)..

Yes. See this page and this page.

Oh yeah!
Difference matte effect on after effects kind of works...it's still pretty imprecise but it does the job...
... do you think mocha is better? Cause i the result i got is still weird.

Difference Keying doesn't really work with video. Clean CG, yes.
Video has too much noise, film has too much grain.
The results will be dodgy at best, horrible at worst.

Mocha isn't meant for that either.

You'll have to rotoscope, and from the way you describe your shot, you'll be lucky to have any hair left after weeks of painstaking, yet probably still unconvincing work.

That's why the green/bluescreen process was invented.
