In AE7.0P, is there a way to assign markers in FOOTAGE, not LAYERS?

I could be wrong, but I really don't think so ... of course everyone's workflow and needs are different, but personally, I'm not sure how useful that would be ... perhaps if you explain what you're trying to accomplish someone may be able to offer an alternative method to accomplish the same.

Ah, we got just the thing for you, buckaroo!

Move the timeline cursor to the desired time, highlight the footage layer and hit the asterisk key on the numeric keypad. Poof! A marker on the footage. If you double-click on the marker, you can even add text!

It's been a feature in AE since version 3.1, if not earlier.

Oh, I thought he meant adding markers directly to source media, rather than layers.

Oh. Y'know, you're probably right about that.

In which case, never mind what I wrote. You can't do it in AE.
