I am not sure how to do this, but there must be a way. I have several small objects that I need to place in the exact center of my project. Is there a way to do this and if so, how? Thanks in advance for your help

Simply drag them into the comp. AE defaults to placing the footage's anchor point at the center of the comp. If you play around by dragging in a footage item, you'll see how it works.

from After Effects Help:

"To move selected layers so that their anchor points are at the center in the current view, choose Layer > Transform > Center In View or press Ctrl+Home (Windows) or Command+Home (Mac OS)."
