Hi all,

Ive been using AE for a long while now (3 years professionally) but I've recently encountered an error with the depth of field in a ray-traced 3D comp with the area that should be blurred instead being very fuzzy and noisy. You can see a frame of the comp here; http://imgur.com/0olHbQZ
The 3D objects are not animated, depth of field is on, the preview option has been set to full, and resolution and quality settings for all the layers/objects are set to the highest setting. The fuzzy/noisyness is also present when depth of field is off, just not as intense as when depth of field is on.

Let me know what you guys think would be a good solution, as this one has me stumped!

Thanks,

Cole

The best solution in my opinion would be to switch to Element 3D.

What is the renderer's Ray-Tracing Quality set to? (Composition Settings > Advanced > Options...)

That's it Walter! it was set to 3, which is pretty low, as soon as I raised it up it took care of the problem. Thanks Walter!
