Hi,

Is it possible to animate a filter from Photoshop (Cutout Filter) in After Effects?

What I mean is I put the Cutout Filter on top of a still picture. But I want to animate that cutout filter over a 5 or 10 second period so it covers the photograph over time.

Is that possible?

Do I have to get the latest After Effects to do that?

Thanks

Just use the Roto Brush. Much simpler.

You can't use Photoshop filters directly in After Effects.

You can animate just about anything in After Effects, but the question is how do you want the effect to proceed from the unfiltered image to the filtered image.

I imagine you need some sort of a transition that is not one of your basic transitions, otherwise you might as well do this in Premiere. Or in right in Photoshop.

Without knowing how you want the effect to "spread", this is hard to answer. What does the a frame from the middle of the animation look like? How does the next frame after that look?

Some artists refer to still frames with various color or luminance ( I.e>) masks) as filters.

So users some may also consider that since it is made in photoshop it is a " photoshop filter".
