Try a different codec -- NOT h.264. A Quicktime in Photo JPEG comes to mind. See if the problem persists.
And how do you determine it's just one line, anyway? I'd be hard-pressed to say that definitively.
Also, I gotta tell you -- 1920x800 is an awfully weird resolution at which to work. What are you making? Furthermore, H.264 only renders properly to a strictly-defined set of resolutions... which could explain the black. I doubt 1920x800 is among them.
What kind of delivery specifications did the client give you for this project? "Make me a video", and nothing more, perhaps?
