Hello!
I'm trying to make the effect of random flickering triangles.
For exampe i have a layer with grid of triangles (or another pattern)
and bottom layer with fractal noise. And i need to take the lightness of BG layer to triangles.
Triangles must be flat shaded.

Is any one know how to do this? Or maybe there's a simpler way?

I'm having a hard time understanding what you're trying to do but I'll take a stab at it. It sounds like you can use a Track Matte (luma matte) to get the effect you're after. So you'll want to do the following:

1: place your fractal noise layer above the triangles (or other pattern)
2: set the triangle layer to 'Luma Matte' under 'TrkMat' in the timeline.

If you can't see that option in your timeline, try pressing 'Toggle Switches / Modes' at the bottom of the timeline and it should reveal that property.

Hope that helps,

Thanks for reply!

Luma matte make a "clouds" effect. I want to the entire area of a triangle shimmered. And don know how to do this. If only make animation for each triangle by hand..

Hard to explane on english (Forgive me). I took a few pictures for clarity.

Here's a simple approach:

Make a layer with the following effects stacked:

1) Fractal Noise, set contrast to 200%
2) Mosaic, with such settings that the tiles are exactly square
3) Motion Tile, set to expand the output width to 200%
4) CC Slant set to slant amount of 50

Add the expression time*100 to the fractal noise evolution.

Duplicate this layer and set top copy slant amount to -50. Also change random seed for fractal for top layer.

Set top layer to 50% opacity.

(Depending on your Mosaic settings, you may need to move top layer x position to align properly with the bottom layer to create triangles.)
