Hello! I am working on re-creating the Monstercat layout in after effects. I need to either use Linear Wipe or Scale on each bar in the spectrum and I was wondering if converting the bars to use Scale instead of Linear Wipe would give me a performance boost.

Sorry if I have left out any details, I'm new here.

I have no idea what a Monstercat is supposed to be.

I'm with Tero -- no clue what you're talking about. Got a link to show us what you mean?

Sorry about that, Here is one of their videos:

As you can see, the bars use either Linear Wipe or scaling up & down. I was hoping to find out if using Scale instead of Linear Wipe would put any less load on my computer while rendering videos.

You ought to check out AE's Audio Spectrum and Audio Waveform effects.

[Joey Cirrito] "I was hoping to find out if using Scale instead of Linear Wipe would put any less load on my computer while rendering videos."

To answer this question directly, I think adjusting the scale would be ever-so-slightly faster, technically, but I doubt you could ever measure the difference. I'd encourage you to use whichever method makes more sense to you from a user's standpoint, as the render time difference will be imperceptible.
